Obituary for William Dungee

William "Big Daddy" Dungee, age 67, husband of Marlyn (Snyder) Dungee, of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, passed away on Friday, May 28, 2021 in Paoli Hospital surrounded by his immediate family. Born on May 17, 1954 in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Rudolph E. Dungee and Catherine T. (Maloney) Dungee.

Bill had been the owner and operator of The Stables Bar for 39 years, where he lived by its slogan, "It's not for everyone."

Bill had an immense passion for sports and could often be found supporting athletics in some capacity. He was a coach for Kimberton Youth Athletic League from 1988-1991 and for one year during that period served as league President. He was also coach of the Braves in 1992 and the Giants in 1994 at the Babe Ruth League of Phoenixville and for many years umpired. Bill played softball and basketball for the Phoenixville Recreation League, softball for the YMCA, played and coached softball for Vince's Tavern, played softball for Bob's Haven Deli and Emery Oil and played football for the Phoenixville Flag Football League. Through his bar, he sponsored many teams over the years, but most notable was The Stables Hogs.

He was an avid fan of spring training baseball for the last 20 years, especially of his beloved Phillies. He was also a big fan of Phoenixville High School sports teams and enjoyed following the baseball, basketball, football and wrestling teams. He enjoyed music and in his youth was a drummer for Bill and The Reliables. In his spare time, Bill loved going on cruises and traveling with family and friends.

In addition to his loving wife, Bill is survived by his children: W. Dennis Dungee and his wife, Deborah, of Coventry, CT, Dina Dungee, of Pottstown, Carly Dungee, of Brooklyn, NY, and Amber Pizza, and her companion Jeff, of Bridgeport; grandchildren: Alexa, Christopher, Bennett and Tenley; siblings: JoAnne Zamulinske, Kathleen (Donald) Miller, Diane (Harry Chrisman) Moses, James (Jan Nolan) Dungee, Paul Dungee, Francis Dungee, John (Mary Jo) Dungee and Rosemary Dungee; many nieces and nephews; and long time friend: Bob Ulisny. In addition to his mother and father, Bill was preceded in death by two brothers: Rudolph F. and Richard Dungee; and a nephew: Tracy Allen.

Relatives and friends will be received from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm Wednesday evening, June 2, 2021 at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville.
