Hog Rock Remembers
Dan Malcolm

Daniel Joseph Malcolm, 57, met God in heaven on Thursday, April 24, 2008.

During his long, courageous fight with cancer, he touched the lives of nearly everyone he met.

His faith and strength have been an inspiration.

He was born on Jan. 5, 1951, and spent his childhood in Levittown with his parents, Joseph Robinson Malcolm and Amelia Joan Babarsky; and brother, Wade Paul Malcolm. Dan then attended Pennsbury High School (Class of 1968) and Drexel University (Class of 1973).

On April 4, 1981, he married his one and only true love, Kathleen "Scottie" Mahoney, and renewed that love with friends and family on April 9, 2006. They have enjoyed 27 wonderful years of marriage and were blessed with four beautiful children. Dan idolized his children, Jennifer, 25; Kimberly, 23; Jason, 20; and Kevin, 15. They were the world to him.

Dan took much pride and enjoyment in coaching his four children over 19 years in GVLL baseball and softball, Malvern league basketball and several soccer leagues. Though he had many winning teams over the years, it was truly his contagious laugh and jokester personality that made each season memorable.

Dan also had a very successful business career during which time he served as a mentor for many. He began his career as an IBM salesman in Philadelphia, where he met his wife. He furthered his career in 1986 at Shared Medical Systems, 1990 at Integra, 1995 at American Healthware, 1999 at Laserlink/Covad, and retired in 2006 as president and chief executive officer of Daou Systems in Exton.

Friends and family are invited to attend the viewing on Monday, April 28, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, April 29, from, 9 to 10:30 a.m. at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester.

A celebration of Dan's life will follow at 11 a.m. at Ss. Simon & Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Court, West Chester.

Interment will be at St. Agnes Cemetery.
